Why should I pray to God every day? Imagine infrequent conversations with the one you love most. How strong would that relationship be? Prayer is essential to a full and thriving life with God. We possess the opportunity and privilege to directly speak with and hear from the One who loves us more than we can imagine! Not only should we pray daily, God wants to hear from us all throughout the day (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).

How can | begin to pray daily? 

• Include prayer as a key component of your daily Bible reading. Talk with God before and after reading the Bible. Ask Him to show you what He’d have you to know and do as a result of studying the Scriptures that day.

• Pray through the day by following Jesus’ model for prayer (Matthew 6:1-14). It is not a matter of using His exact words, but applying the concepts of His mode! prayer. ACTS is a good acronym to help remember those concepts: 

  • Adoration — Praise and honor God for who He is. He is worthy of our praise. 

  • Confession — Admit to God and honestly deal with sin in your life. Align your life and will with God's will and purposes. 

  • Thanksgiving — Express to God what you are grateful for in your life. 

  • Supplication — Ask God to provide for the needs of others as well as yourself.
