5-11-25 Messy - Jesus-Driven Generosity
2 Corinthians 8:1-15 As was the case with Zacchaeus, when we come to a saving knowledge of Jesus, it should change our hearts to give up all of ourselves in order to serve him. Paul reminds the Corinthians of their vow to do the same by referencing the church at Philippi, who gave even though they were very poor. If they could do it, so should we.

5-4-25 Messy - Real Regret
2 Corinthians 7:1-13 We have all done things that we regret and would like to go back and change. Paul lets us know in our passage today that this grief (or regret) can take us away from God, or toward Him. But if we know Jesus, he has taken away the sin that causes it and it's already gone.

2-9-25 - Messy - Why is Life So Messy?
2 Corinthians 1:1-11 A common viewpoint on life is that we are all just riding the waves of life, going wherever they take us, along the peaceful waves, through the storms, crashing on the rocks. But God is in control, using the messes to teach us lessons that will help us on our mission - to bring ourselves and others closer to Jesus.

2-16-25 - Messy - How to Handle Misunderstandings
2 Corinthians 1:12 - 2:4 If we don't know all of the facts, we often make assumptions that lead us to think the worst of a person or situation. This "murder by assumption" can be extremely damaging, and is what happened to Paul in 2 Corinthians.

2-23-25 Messy - Tough Love, Tender Love

3-2-25 - Messy - Why We Don't Throw in the Towel
2 Corinthians 2:12-17 The term "throwing in the towel" comes from boxing, where to give up or concede defeat the corner of the boxer would throw their towel into the ring to signal they were done and not coming back out. Our opponents in this world want to demoralize, discourage, and defeat us to the point of exposing our faults and frailties. Paul had been on the verge of defeat, but tells in today's passage how God kept him going, and how we should follow the same example.

3-16-25 - Messy - We Do Not Lose Heart
2 Corinthians 4 This is one of those chapters we know, love, and need. As Paul describes, life is hard, but he wants to remind us that our life is part of the renewing process we receive when we place our trust in Jesus.
