Jeremiah 29:11 We often see Jeremiah 29:11 referenced at baby dedications and graduations, etc. However we miss the deep meaning of the scripture when we fail to understand the background and the situation from which Jeremiah's famous verse is taken. God's plans for us are even better than we can understand from seeing Jeremiah 29:11 on a coffee cup.

Matthew 7:1-12 There are some verses that even non-Christians know and reference when the situation suits them. Today's verse is one of the most popular, since it is used as a weapon against criticism of their unbelief. However the Bible is actually clear that we are supposed to judge, starting with ourselves and avoiding being judgemental.

John 15:1-17 Many Christians accept a "prosperity gospel" where they think they can ask for anything they want, add Jesus' name at the end, and they will get it. Even though Jesus states it this way in scripture multiple times, it is a statement that needs to be examined. Why are our prayers sometimes not answered, or possibly even heard.

2 Corinthians 1-11 Many of the phrases attributed to the Bible are actually contradictions... God will give you more than you can handle. Nothing happens without God's knowledge, but there is always a purpose for our affliction and suffering.

Habakkuk 1:1-11 Although it is not a verse, or even a book that you see quoted very often, Habakkuk 1:5 appears on the surface to give a great promise of God's good works. However when you look closely at the surrounding verses, we see that God is really reiterating last week's point that bad things will happen, although He will work them for good.

Matthew 25:1-13 The use of parables was common in Jewish teaching in order to help people understand truths clearly. Jesus uses the parable of ten virgins to explain his second coming and give us two possible outcomes... but the main point is to be ready!
